Maruti Suzuki Celerio

Maruti Suzuki India launched the 2nd generation of its most successful hatchback the Celerio on 10 November 2021, when the 1st gen Celerio was launched back in 2014 it was the first-ever car from Maruti stable with an AMT gearbox. The latest generation Celerio is now with more rounded edges and curves compared to the squared ones in the older generation. At a first glance 2021, Celerio seems to be inspired from the Baleno which is a premium hatchback offered by the company. Celerio is based on Maruti’s modular fifth-generation Heartect platform which offers smooth and continuous curves that disperse energy and increase rigidity, this platform has also been used in the Wagon R, Swift, Dzire, Ertiga, Baleno, Ignis, and XL6.

Design

The front of Celerio is now big compared to the previous-gen with large and angular headlights, a bold line with a chrome strip joins the headlights with the “Suzuki” logo in the center, behind the emblem is a newly designed honey-combed like grille add a character to the car. A restructures bumper with black inserts around the fog lamps looks sportier. On the side, there is minimal use of black elements except the B-pillars and alloy wheels along with body-colored mirrors and a tapering roofline, the rear houses a larger glass and elliptical taillights with black pieces for reflectors & parking sensors.

Interior

The dashboard is revived which follows a “V” shaped design pattern, the central A/C vents are vertically placed in between a 7-inch Touchscreen infotainment system and manual A/C switches underneath the center console. The cabin in the vehicle is all-black with silver touches around the circular AC vents, instrument cluster, steering wheel, doorknobs, and gear lever.

Customization

The company has designed two packages that reflect the style quotient of the car first is Active & Cool Package while the second is Peppy & Stylish Package, these packages offer body graphic designs, skirting’s, spoiler, seat cover, PVD floor mats, etc., in different color combinations.

Engine

2021 Celerio is equipped with a new generation K10C engine which is 1.0L DualJet naturally aspirated 3-cylinder petrol BS6 compliant producing 67Hp (66bhp)@5500 and 89Nm@3500 torque with idle Start/Stop technology mated to two gearbox 5-speed Manual and 5-speed Automatic (AMT). This DualJet engine is a scaled-down version of 1.2L which powers Swift and Baleno and Maruti claims this is the most fuel-efficient engine compared to the previous generations.
DualJet is a technology where two injectors are placed closely in the inlet valves allowing fine atomization of fuel resulting incomplete combustion of fuel and cooler running of the engine, faster throttle response at low speed. Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system circulates exhaust air in the combustion chamber lowering the temperature of the air, allowing the engine to run at a higher compression ratio which reduces engine knocking.

Dimension

The overall Length, Width, Height stands at 3695, 1655, 1555 respectively and Wheelbase is 2435. Celerio comes with two different tire sizes viz. R14 and R15 depending on the variant.
