TATA Punch - India's Safest Car
First previewed by the name HBX in Auto Expo 2020, TATA recently launched its newest vehicle in the micro-SUV segment the all-new Punch. While the Punch is placed between Tiago NRG and Nexon compact SUV, TATA is aiming high for its newest vehicle. Scoring a 5-Star GNCAP Safety rating TATA Punch shares its platform with TATA Altroz which is based on ALFA architecture, TATA has taken safety to a next level that will suit the Indian customer wallet.


Design

In terms of design, TATA Punch has been derived from its elder siblings the Harrier and Safari. Tri-arrow design on the front bumper rite beside the TATA logo and a signature humanity line blow it, air vents scoped besides the headlamps and split follow me headlamps with projectors, LED Daytime Running Lights with turn indicators resembles Harrier and Safari. The radiator is clearly visible behind the tri-arrow grille to suck in an ample amount of air. Fog lamps with cornering features on the lower part of the bumper which are the part of the body cladding that runs on the entire length of the car giving that rugged SUV look to the vehicle. On the side of the car, you get to see blacked-out pillars and a rear door handle hidden in the C-pillar. The tails might not look as aggressive as the front but the tail-light carries over the tri-arrow pattern, a huge black plastic bumper accentuates the rear of the sub-compact SUV along with 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels elevating the vehicle 187mm frim above the ground.



Interior

The dashboard is simple yet elegant painted in dual colours, body-coloured rectangular rings around the A/C vents looks sporty. A 7-inch touch screen infotainment system powered by Harman with connected car feature as TATA names it iRA clubbed to 4 speakers & 2 tweeters set. A multifunctional steering wheel to access to infotainment system on the left and cruise control on right along with Tilt steering adjustment. The instrument cluster consists of a 7-in TFT display that displays rpm, fuel gauge and other important information appended to it is an analogue speedometer. The highlight of TATA Punch is its 90-degree opening doors which are provided only by an Indian brand. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, premium upholstery with tri-arrow design are loaded in the top of the line variant. Dual airbags are standard on the vehicle along with other safety features which are hard to offer by any other carmaker at such a price point.

Engine & Dimensions

TATA Punch is equipped with a 1.2L 3-cylinder Revotron Petrol Engine with Dyna Pro technology producing 86PS (83BHP) power @6000rpm and 113Nm Torque @3300rpm clubbed to 5 Speed Manual/5 Speed AMT transmission. The car has 2 driving modes ‘Eco & City’ for better driving experience and fuel efficiency. Length x Width x Height of the car is 3827 x 1742 x 1615 mm respectively while the wheelbase is 2445mm along with 366 litres boot capacity. The top variant has 195/60 R16 tyres on the other hand all other variants have 185/70 R15 tyres, spare wheel size is 185/70 R15 standard across all variants. The fuel tank can hold up to 37 Litres of Gasoline. As per ARAI TATA Punch fuel efficiency for the Manual edition is 18.97kmpl and 18.82kmpl for the Automatic edition.
Dyna Pro Technology ensures the delivery of fresh air to the engine in the best possible manner to aid efficient combustion and improved power delivery.
