BMW X3 - 2022 Facelift

BMW India has begun the year 2022 by unveiling a facelifted version of its SUV the BMW X3 which they call Midcycle Facelift after a leap of 5 years since its previous version was launched in 2017. A lot has been changed on the inside as well as outside in terms of design, styling, and performance now the X3 comes in an M Sport Kit with 20-inch M light alloys coupled to low profile tires however these alloys are available for pre-booking customers only. The X3 is a scaled-down version of X5 while its skeleton is the same as that of the previous facelift. The current generation is X3 is sportier, sharper, and more premium than the previous gen.

Design

The signature kidney grille is dressed in chrome vertical slabs finishing and equipped with adaptive airstream technology which lets the car decide how much air to breadth in & closes the vents when the engine needs to heat up during closed start and they are not exaggerated in size like on the 7 Series. Fort bumper has brushed aluminum touches on the skid plate and gloss black touches on M Sport Kit trim. The fully adaptive LED headlamps are now sleek and lowed by approx. 10mm for better visibility. The tail lamps are refreshed LEDs with a new 3D look which makes the SUV stand out from the previous generation's L-shaped ones. The exhaust tips are redesigned and BMW has stuck to its DNA by not giving fake tips.

Inside of the X3 is renewed which make the cabin roomy but it retains the original BMW layout, there are two 12 inch screens in the car with BMW’s 7.0 Operating system, a free-floating 12.3-inch touch screen infotainment system on the center console high-resolution screen embedded with BMW Intelligent Personal Assistants, the second screen is the 12.3-inch instrument cluster which is also a high-resolution multifunctional screen same as the predecessor with updated graphics. X3 also comes with gesture control to control volume, change music, etc., and 3 zone climate control as well as standard.

Engine

BMW has offered petrol and diesel option 30i & 20d respectively. The Petrol motor is a 2.0L engine producing 252HP and 350Nm torque while the latter one is a 2.0L engine producing 140HP and 400Nm torque. Both the power trains are coupled to an 8-speed Steptronic Torque converter unit that can be seen in other BMW cars as well. For manual gear shift, lovers' paddle shifters are added behind the steering wheel which can be accessed by switching the transmission in manual mode. The SUV is equipped with adaptive dampers and xDrive technology for a smooth driving experience.

Platform

BMW X3 has been designed on the G01 platform which is the 3rd gen of this platform which was first developed in 2018. Dimension of the current-gen vehicle has not changed since it’s just the facelift which stands at 4708mm x 1891mm x 1676mm LxWxH respectively and the wheelbase is 2864mm.
