Mahindra XUV700
On 14th August 2021, M&M surprised Indian customers with the global debut of its power-packed C-segment SUV the XUV700, loaded with features that are generally offered by high-end luxury car manufactures and couldn’t have been imagined in such aggressive pricing are now on offer by our very own Indian Automobile giant which is pronounced as “XUV seven double O”. There was speculation made that Mahindra could launch the revamped version of its famous SUV XUV500 but the company has dropped a bombshell with the launch of XUV700.
The vehicle is built on the W601 monocoque platform which will also house upcoming SUVs from its stable. W601 has been developed by Mahindra in alliance with Ford. The new platform has been designed and developed to raise the bar in terms of performance, styling and world-class safety.
Design
On the front, you will notice the character of the new SUV has been borrowed from its sibling XUV500. Large angular parallel-twin DRLS, clear-view LED headlamps are new add-ons compared to the projector's headlights. A cool new grill design with vertical parallel-twin chrome strips neatly match with DRL’s, Twin peaks logo in the center of the grill accentuates the masculine look of the SUV.
The side profile is clean with minimal curve lines and a noticeable arc above the rear wheel. The flush door handles are new for the Indian cars which Mahindra calls smart door handles; this comes when the companies Chairman wanted the design on the vehicle to be smooth with no door handles. 18-inch alloys are the same which are those seen on XUV500 except for the alloy designs.
In the back, the tail lamps are arrowhead-shaped occupying a large amount of space of the boot led, surprisingly the tailgate is made out of fiberglass plastic. A similar practice can be seen in high-end automobile brands as well as this could be the reason to shred the overall weight of the car. The logo seems to be accommodated on the tailgate of the SUV which could have been integrated inside the body for a flawless design.
Interior
The inside of the car looks roomy with bright color interiors and it gets the biggest panoramic sunroof in its class. The dashboard gets a dual-tone treatment with a large HD screen which is divided into two 10.5 inch screens, a TFT digital instrument cluster for the driver, and second is a touch screen infotainment system.
