The wait is over for die heard Tata Safari’s fans with the all-new Safari 2021. TATA recently revealed an all-new redesigned Safari 2021 which looks like the Elder twin brother of the Harrier. TATA has showcased the Gravitas concept at the Auto Expo 2020 (India).

Chassis

Tata Safari 2021 is based on TATA’s Omega ARC platform, which is also a house to TATA Harrier. This has been developed on similar lines to the Land Rover D8 platform. Safari is the 2nd family member of the same platform after Harrier.

Engine

A 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine which has also been mounted under Harrier’s hood will be carried over in the Safari as well and a 1.5LTurbo petrol could be added later. The diesel motor will produce 170PS of power along with 350NM of torque coupled with a 6-Speed manual and 6-speed Torque converter gearbox. Initially, only a 2-wheel device variant will be launched and later wheeled drive varies could be launched. Engines will be BS6 compliant.

Interior

A dual-tone interior with off-white seats and a blacked-out dashboard gives the cabin a spacious look. The second row will be to be caption seats compared to bench seats on the Harrier. Stadium seating for second and third-row passengers for a better outside view. The infotainment system will be a floating island 8.8” touch screen coupled with a JBL speaker setup. The cabin also includes an auto-dimming IRVM making it easy for the driver during the night journey. A massive panoramic sunroof to enjoy the bright sunny drive.

Exterior

Newly designed wraparound tail lamps give the Safari a distinct tail identity. 18-inch alloy wheels give the SUV a rich look. Front houses Bi-xenon projector headlamps, LED DRLS. A Tri arrow chrome grill makes it a highlight of the Safari. Stepped roof, increasing the headroom for third-row passengers. Roof rails with the Safari engraved on them. Chrome door handles, body-color ORVM.

Launch

TATA Safari is expected to be priced between ₹14 lakh and ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom). Production has also commenced with the roll-out of the first 2021 Safari. How will it perform against the rivals MG Hector Plus and the upcoming next-generation Mahindra XUV-500, that’s the bet?
