Skoda Slavia - Premium Midsized Sedan
India is an SUV-dominated market whether it be a Small-size SUV, midsized or full-sized SUV they rule the Indian roads. Skoda India also tried to take a dip in the pool of SUV market with its first offering for the Indian market the “Kushaq” under the Volkswagens India 2.0 project, now the company has launched its second product but now in the Premium Sedan segment which is commanded by Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai & Honda.
There was a series of videos and snaps from leading automobile magazines featuring the camouflaged version of the S
koda’s upcoming vehicle and finally, the company has taken-off covers off on 18th November 2021, in a Skoda Slavia - World Static Premiere” online event.
Skoda Slavia carries forward Octavia and Superb’s DNA with all the signature elements of Skoda’s 125-year design language. Slavia front reiterates Skoda’s characteristics, the vertical slats of the grille is encapsulated within a chrome frame, and L-shaped LED headlights including daytime running lights with crystalline details. Large air-cons in front of the radiator along with spoiler view on the bottom of the bumper. The crease-free line that starts from the SKODA badge on both sides and extends up to the tail lamps, the car is dressed in 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels adding a strong look to the car. C-shaped LED taillights are split into two sections while the rear bumper is contoured with an integrated horizontal chrome strip and reflectors. The roofline somewhat resembles a coupe, chrome elements on the window-line justify its premise touch. Under the rear led is a massive 521L boot space that can be increased by more than 1000L with the 60:40 rear seat split.

Interior

The Interior of the Slavia is symmetrical and is based on an open-wing theme with a free-standing 10-inch infotainment system being the center of attraction which has been taken from the Kushaq, trapezoidal A/C vents are planted below the screen along controlled by touched sensitive climatronic with air care is standard controls across all trims, in the two corners of the dashboard you get to see big circular sharped A/C cons with a contrasting element stretching along the entire length including the air vents highlighting the premiumness of the vehicle. The multifunctional steering is a two-spoke wheel that can be seen in other S
koda cars, an 8-inch digital cockpit with 3 modes is a new addition in the Slavia. The Czech automobile giant has paid attention to the details on the dashboard like you will see a “SKODA” embossed on both sides of the dash above the instrument cluster.

Technicities

Slavia will be available in 3 trims Active, Ambition, and Style along with 2 engine options a 1.0L TSI 3-cylinder and a 1.5L TSI 4-cylinder engine with cylinder deactivation technology where 2 out of 4 cylinders are automatically shut down in light load conditions thus increasing the fuel efficiency of the vehicle, both the units are Turbocharged. Similar power figures can be observed on the Slavia as the car shares its power train with its sibling the Kushaq. The 1.0L will produce 115PS power and 178NM torque mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed Torque Convertor Automatic gearbox, while the 1.5L will produce 150PS power and 250NM torque clubbed with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG gearbox. Again due to the presence of a diesel motor competitors score a point over the Slavia.

The car is 4541 mm in length, 1752 mm wide, and 1487 mm high in comparison to the Rapid and is 128mm longer 53mm wider, 21mm taller, and 99mm longer wheelbase. Based on the MQB A0 IN platform which is also hinged under Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun, Slavia is larger than the 1st generation S
koda Octavia.
Skoda claims the car has been designed and tested for daily city hustles, impromptu road trips, and mountain driving, official mileage figures are not released yet but 1.0L is expected to give 16kmpl and 1.5L about 17kmpl, prices are likely to be well within ₹10 lakh to ₹18 lakh (Ex-showroom).
