Triumph Trident 660

Pioneers of Three-Cylinder Engine, British iconic motorcycle brand Triumph has launched its entry-level motorcycle into the market around the world and it’s called Triumph Trident 660 and indeed it’s the most affordable bike in the company’s lineup replacing the Street Triple. Designed and developed in Hinckley, UK headquarters, Trident also gets its input from Rodolfo Frascoli the person who designed the new Tiger 900 and Speed Street Triple.

Engine
Trident derives the engine from its sibling Street Triple while a lot has been changed in terms of engine ergonomics. The motor has been designed to deliver a perfect balance between low-down torque and top-end power. The bike is powered by a 660cc inline Three-Cylinder Liquid-Cooled, 12 Valve Dual Overhead Cam which is BS6 compliant. While the bore is larger than the stroke standing at 74.00mm and 51.1mm respectively with a compression ratio of 11.1:1. Trident produces max power of 80HP at 10,250rpm and 64Nm torque at 6250rpm. A multipoint sequential electronic fuel injection system, ride-by-wire throttle system, and multi-plate slipper clutch with crisp and precise throttle response are coupled to a 6-speed gearbox for smooth downshift at higher speeds all these ingredients are included in the standard package.
The bike gets an all-new Tubular steel parameter frame joined to 41mm upside-down Showa forks in the front and a mono-shock with preload adjustment at the rear. For efficient braking, Triumph has supplemented twin 310mm two-piston Nissin floating discs with sliding calipers, at the back a 250mm single-piston Nissin disc with sliding calipers, the bike is equipped with dual-channel ABS which cannot be switched OFF. A set of 17-inch 5 spoke lightweight cast-aluminum wheels clubbed to 180/55R17 and 120/70R17 Michelin Road 5 tyres in the rear and the front.

Electronics
The bikes get color two-part TFT instrument cluster where the upper part displays tachometer, gear indicator, fuel gauge, and speed while the second screen is a multifunctional unit with a view for the riding modes, mileage, trip, etc., while buyers can opt for an add-on Bluetooth package where you can connect your phone for navigation and GoPro controls. The headlamp is a 7” full-LED assembly along with LED turn indicators are planted on the tyre huggers, and a neatly tucked-in LED tail light under the seat.

The fuel tank looks chunky in size with a holding capacity of 14L and it has large curved arches on the tank for riders' comfort including the Trident (Trishul) branding on knee cut-outs. Machined Triumph bagging on the fuel cap along with the Triumph branding on the headlight, tail-light, handlebar clamps, and TFT display face.
