The Korean automobile maker has recently launched the 6th generation of its best-selling midsized sadden in the Indian market the all-new Hyundai Verna and rightly the new-gen Verna seems to have ticked all the checkboxes in terms of Design, Style, Features, Safety, and Comfort. At first glance, the new Verna looks modern and futuristic; Hyundai says the design is inspired by a spaceship. Bye-bye to the fluidic design and welcome the ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design which is based on Hyundai’s Global design identity, the same design language has been used on the international models of Elantra, but the design of the car is rather subjective. The new design has reduced the drag coefficient of the vehicle to 0.30Cd from 0.31Cd compared to the previous generation.
Exterior
The front houses a large parametric grill with headlamps planted on the shoulders of the grill and the highlight of the all-new Verna is the large LED DRL that runs across the bonnet making it stand out in the competition. The headlamps are all LED in the newest iteration of Verna, the company has rather deleted fog log lamps from the vehicle by placing the headlamps strategically on the vehicle. The Hyundai logo is paper thin above the DRL bar and is part of the bonnet which means it can’t be removed or replaced. The sharp crease lines on the bonnet neatly coincide with the DRL bar. Coming to the side, the car looks based on the FastBack design theme, like Ford Mustang and Audi A7. The sharp crease lines run from the entire length of the car, a chrome strip and chrome handle are of mat finish, and large wheel arches fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels which are standard on both top-of-the-line variants. The rear end of the Hyundai Verna 2023 has a large LED bar that connects both ends of the vehicle and resembles a giant “H” from a distance, here the Hyundai Logo and Verna bagging is also graved in the trail gate. The rear turn indicators look like a part of the quarter panel. The new Verna might not be the longest in the segment but it has the longest wheelbase compared to the competition i.e. 2670mm.
Interior
On the inside the dashboard of the vehicle gets a radical new design, now the cabin looks roomy enough with badge color treatment with the AC vents neatly tucked-in with a touch chrome strip and ambient lighting below it. The instrument cluster is a 10.25-inch screen with a dial pattern familiar to Hyundai Venue and i20. The infotainment system is also a 10.25-inch touchscreen for media, navigation, and other functions. To minimize the button affair in the car center console has a switch that toggles between the infotainment system and climate controller and buttons for heating and cooling switch functions underneath it. The center console is driver-centric and the navigation screen is angled toward the driver. The steering wheel is now two-spoke with paddle shifters for the automatic variant. The rear passenger gets more legroom along with rear AC vents and charging ports along with a manual rear curtain.
