Hyundai Alcazar - 7 Seater SUV

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has officially teased out the 7-seater variant of the Creta SUV which will be primarily known as Hyundai Alcazar (Spanish Castle) and Alcazar will be a premium product in the offering. The car has made lots of news from the past few months for its spy snaps of the test mule plying on the Indian roads. Finally, the camouflaged will be unwrapped within a few weeks from now with its launch in India as well as the global debut.

Design

HMIL has released sketches of the Alcazar, on the side profile a sharp angular line runs from the headlamp to tail lamp, new designed dual-tone diamond-cut alloys which foot the car firmly on the ground with its 18-inch wheels. The tail lamps are C-shaped sectioned in numerous modules. An Alcazar bagging on the chrome strip runs on the back connecting the LED stoplights. The main highlight of the car is the length of the vehicle which will be 150mm longer than the Creta and the wheelbase of the vehicle is 2760mm. The Korean carmaker has claimed best-in-the-class wheelbase to provide good legroom for second and third-row passengers in addition to it a hydraulic rebound stopper has been installed in the front strut for better rebound control to ensures a plush ride experience.
Some of the latest leaked uncamouflaged images suffered the internet which shows the hexagonal front grill comprising of chrome rectangles mesh with Hyundai logo right in the center, the front grill stretches up to the headlamps separating the DRL’s and tri-beam LED lights. Fog lamps are also given a similar design tweak to that of the headlamps which are housed lower in the bumper. Silver-finished front skirting gives the SUV a masculine look with a sportier touch. The tail of the SUV resembles somewhat to Ford Endeavour on the first scan. The extra third section of the car has blacked-out C & D pillar embracing a small glass between the two pillars. Silver touched roof rails match the front skirting of the car.

Interior
The interior will be carried over from the younger sibling, a dual-tone dash with black and brown color combination. The second row will likely to have the option of caption seats with a dedicated cup holder, wireless charging, an armrest, or a bench seat. A new third row has been added in the car to fit the extra seats for adults in addition to that Hyundai has managed to give an adequate amount of boot space of 180-liters (largest in the class) while the last-row seat can be split into a 50:50 ratio for additional boot space. The second-row seat will be electrically folded by the touch of a button for the passengers to hop in the third row.

Engine
The 
1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel U2 engine tuned to produce 113HP and 250Nm torque will be likely be carried over from the Creta, and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol Nu engine producing 156HP and 191Nm torque will be a new addition. 6-speed manual and 6-speed Automatic with Final Gear Ratio (FGR) gearbox will be available on both diesel and petrol engines. Hyundai has claimed Alcazar petrol can clock 0-100kmph in 10 seconds.

Pricing
Hyundai Alcazar is expected to be priced between ₹15 lakh and ₹22 lakh (ex-showroom) and will battle against MG Hector Plus, TATA Safari 2021, Mahindra XUV 500.

As the market trends show buyers are now more inclined towards 7-seaters SUV’s over the mid-sized SUV in the country Hyundai has put the metal on the pedal with a new segment, can the new Alcazar be a better choice?
